The Health Ministry of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church is committed to: teaching the benefits of health and wellness; developing in our congregation, and community, a mindset for healthy choices and; creating programs and opportunities to enhance one’s health. We achieve our goals through educational programs, community outreach and direct one on one interaction/conservation.

We host a Health Fair every other year, which brings information, city and county resources together for the community. This half-day event is well attended and serves as the medical “check-up” for most who attend. Participants are 10 – 85 years old and typically come from members of our congregation and surrounding community residents.

Our desire is to provide the children in attendance with an opportunity/incentive to win a bicycle through a drawing. A bicycle is often the last choice for purchase by a family when shelter and food are paramount. We can just imagine, and we are sure that you can too, the joy, pride and the element of excitement on the faces of the children who will receive a bicycle for the first time.

With our focus on health, we are also in need of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). The AED will jump start the heart from an irregular heart beat and maintain a normal heart beat until such time as professional medical assistance arrives. The AED would serve as a vital tool, in cases of a cardiac emergency, for attendees at the Health Fair and remain at the church for future events. For our church to be known as a place in the community with the state-of-the-art equipment for potential cardiac emergencies, fosters a real sense of safety and confidence for our congregation and guests.

Your commitment and participation echo and promote the values of service delivery decentralized and embedded at the community level. We are requesting a total of $2000.00. Whatever your donation to this cause, our Health Care Ministry truly appreciates your unselfish support.
